Beaches, Coves and Valleys

Wonderful Cornish beaches are a short drive from Tregulland.

For sand, fun and a taste of the classic British seaside head to one of Bude’s three beaches. Widemouth Bay is just 14 miles from Tregulland. Whether you wish to swim, sunbathe, surf, hunt for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools or just comb the beach, Widemouth has it all.

A craggy cove, with a beach only revealed at low tide, Strangles Beach is a favourite with Tregulland’s guests. Accessed via a steep climb down the cliffs, it is quiet all year round.

Crackington Haven is a small bay with good cliff top walks where you can take in the breathtaking views. Just 10 miles from Tregulland, you can grab a bite to eat and watch the waves roll in from the nearby Coombe Barton Inn or the Cabin Cafe.

Rocky Valley on the coast path from Tintagel to Boscastle is a hidden gem. Two small carvings on the rock face, just east of a ruined mill, possibly date from the Bronze Age. The walk down the valley to the coast is stunning.

Adventures on your Doorstep

Venture out of the cosiness of Tregulland and you will find substantial grounds which include landscaped areas and an orchard with picnic benches. A wooded stream leads down to a lake where you can take out a row boat or go fishing (there are plenty of ghostie and mirror carp weighing over 20lbs).

There’s an outdoor play area for the kids.

The grounds are rich in wildlife so you may spot an otter going down the river, starlings passing overhead, or even a kingfisher. Tregulland looks onto Cornwall’s ‘Twin Peaks’, Rough Tor and Brown Willy, which is the highest point in the county. Rough Tor can be climbed in a short hour-long walk.
