A toast to togetherness

Enid Blyton’s super-sleuth kids would investigate The Old Parsonage for clues. You’ll just enjoy the party-friendly spaces, the lake dinghies and the outdoor pool. Hike the Downs; cycle the lanes; fish the rivers. Or just potter to the pub and toast togetherness.

Solve the mysteries of the Old Parsonage

In another age, Enid Blyton’s super-sleuth kids would have spent their holidays investigating The Old Parsonage at Balcombe for clues. Set in a nursery-rhyme Sussex village, the Georgian Rectory, with its imposing double-fronted symmetry, provides the perfect backdrop against which to play out your own dramas.

There may not be any secret chambers, spiral staircases or underground passages, but The Old Parsonage does come with a drawing room perfect for a murder-mystery game, a quick bout of charades – or the celebration to end them all. The Old Parsonage is as much party palace as it is children’s playground.

Get together for dancing and drinks, or escape privately to quiet spaces. Flip open a good book in front of roaring fires; crack open a bottle or three with family and friends; call up our chef for a family feast; gaze out over the switchback hills from the sprawling bedrooms. This is a place to celebrate or ruminate.

When the sun crests the Downs, dive into the pool in the walled garden. Walk to the lake and set sail by dinghy; hike the hills; cycle the lanes; fish the rivers. Potter down to the pub for a pint of best. Toast family and friends – and the great places that bring them all together.

Pool and Gardens

The Old Parsonage is surrounded by nine beautiful acres of gardens and meadows for you to explore and enjoy during your stay.

We invite you to take a dip in your very own heated outdoor swimming pool, perfect for the water babies amongst you and a great way to spend a sunny summers day.
