There are 17 acres of grounds for you to relax in. Wild meadows, a small lake, formal gardens, bbq terrace and lawns are all available for guests to enjoy. Explore the wild meadows, stroll among the blue cedar, larch, cherry and Australian gum trees that majestically dominate the grounds, and admire the established beds that overflow with colour and fragrance during the warmth months.
The south facing elevation ensures day-long sunshine. Pull up a steamer chair and unwind.
Through the stone flagged reception hall you’ll find four sumptuous reception rooms including a magnificent dining room, plus a farmhouse kitchen with a four oven AGA.
Downstairs the basement games room hosts a 3/4 size snooker table, table tennis and darts. Over at the Dovecote, a short stroll from the house, there is a first floor living room and a sweet kitchen.
The house opens out onto lovely terraces, with plenty of space for al fresco dining.
Enjoy the lovely country kitchen that is superbly equipped to create the perfect feast. With a large central island there’s plenty of space for all the crew to help out from the chopping to the washing! The kitchen has a feature Aga and a further electric oven with induction hobs. The Dovecote has a small contemporary kitchen with electric oven and hob. It is possible to arrange food deliveries to be unpacked prior to your arrival.
A central dining room complete with beautiful table and chairs, wood-burner and traditional sash windows is the idyllic setting for a celebratory meal. Enrol the talents of a local chef to create bespoke menus befitting the occasion. Stock the cellar in advance and arrange for the local wine merchant to hand select the perfect selection from crisp roses to hearty reds. Try the locally made Purbeck Vineyard vintages including Studland Ruby and Kimmeridge Mist.
Somerset and Dorset are fast becoming known for the quality of their farm shops and local produce. Book into The Chapel at Bruton for more traditional rustic dining. The Half Moon is just at the foot of the drive and perfect for a local ale and pub grub or simply discover the charming cafes and bistro.
Eight individually styled, spacious bedrooms are spread over the first and second floor. Four are ensuite and there are two family bathrooms. Many of the rooms can be configured as double or twin and travel cots are available for additional flexibility.
A stone’s throw from the main house is the Dovecote, which has a family room, kitchen and two lovely bedrooms overlooking the gardens. The Dovecote’s bedrooms and living spaces are set on the first floor with its own luxury sitting room, kitchen and bathroom.
