Perch yourself on a bar stool and order up a pint or Prosecco from your designated bar tender. Finish your evening around the table and chairs with board games and Nespresso or just late-night Sky TV.
Love a log fire? The sitting room’s the perfect spot for a large family gathering, with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video streamed over the Airband Wi-Fi, and a full Sky package for general merriment among movies and matches. Kick back in a fount of opulent luxury, reading the handwritten games books that date from 1905.

Make a real celebration of it by booking private catering, this can offer imaginative dishes and a varied menu for a dinner party or fully catered break. Ask for recommendations. Or get stuck in yourself, with the fully fitted kitchen, electric oven and Aga inspiring you to new culinary heights.
Eat out on the terrace with a barbecue in the West-Country sunshine or in the opulent dining room with its classical country feel. Shop at Sainsbury’s, Tesco or Morrison’s or support local business at Rachael’s Bakery, Shapland and Searle Butchers, veg from Bampton Fresh and wine from Corks and Cru.
Potter 100 yards to the dog-friendly London Inn for a classic country welcome, open fires, Exmoor Ales and a beer garden. Order from a varied menu that includes fresh Devon crab risotto and braised Exmoor lamb shank. Or head to the Tarr Farm Inn for 40-day sirloin, slow-cooked belly pork or vegan stir-fry.
Tuck into local tipples and British classics such as wild black bream and glazed ox cheek at the Swan Inn in Bampton. Head to The Mason’s Arms in Knowstone for salt- baked celeriac or breast of guinea fowl, or to Woods in Dulverton for wild sea bass, ribeye steak or confit leg and roast breast of duck.
Bedrooms
The hooting of a barn owl or the snuffle of deer are all you’re likely to hear on the edge of Exmoor. Soak up the silence and sleep like the logs do in the nearby Margam Forest.
