Stay on site for organised archery, clay-pigeon shooting and sheep racing. Chill in the Gosling Sports Park spa. Shoot 18 holes at Panshanger. Or head out for high tea at the Brewery Tea Rooms or high jinks on Legoland Resort’s wild rides. Or discover an underwater world at Sea Life London and keep your cubs busy at London Zoo.
Country kids
Sea Life London’s the place to discover another world: the UK’s largest jellyfish experience, the gentoo penguin colony, Coral Kingdom and Rockpool, with the chance to stroke a starfish. Stay in town for the London Eye, The Tower, Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussaud’s and the Harry Potter Warner Bros Tour.
Climb, balance, jump and swing across different obstacles at Ninja Warrior Adventure Park, inspired by the TV show. Head to Stanborough Park for rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, rafting, open-water swimming and larking around in Splashlands, the pirate-themed play park.
Pop out to Campus West for the three cinema screens, soft play, large roller rink and refuelling café. See the 18th-century watermill still working at Mill Green Museum. Let loose in the jungle-themed Get Wild! play area. Or keep your cubs busy with a trip to London Zoo, to meet monkeys, zebras, lions and llamas.
Make friends with cuddly bunnies, baby ducklings, giant lizards and corn snakes at Woodside Animal Farm. Or get around the M25 to ride the Sky Lion, Ninjago and The Dragon at Legoland Resort. Learn to drive an electric Lego car, become a Master Builder in The Brick and stick around for tea in the Tournament Tavern.
For the grown ups
Stay on site to have a go at archery, clay-pigeon shooting, country pursuits or sheep racing. Brush up your culinary skills in the cookery school, to include the art of the barbie, pizza making, fine dining and foraging. Or skip all that and move straight to the cocktail making.
Get down to Gosling Sports Park for the gym, tennis courts, the ski centre and the spa, which includes Finnish sauna, salt bath, steam room, laconium, massages and body therapies. Or shoot 18 holes at lovely Panshanger Golf Complex, with its stunning views over the Mimram Valley.
Head out for high tea to the Brewery Tea Rooms. See the Roman baths at Mill Green. Potter round Stanborough Park, with its two lakes, or get active on the South Lake with sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Catch your supper at Tewin Mill Fish Farm or blast birds from the sky at the Hillside Clay Pigeon Club.
Delve deep into history with a trip to Hatfield House, with 40 acres of tranquility in which Elizabeth I spent much of her childhood. At St Albans, climb over 200 steps up to the top of the oldest cathedral tower in Britain. Or head to spectacular Knebworth House, with its 250 acres of parkland and 500 years of history.
